What to put on a plumber job sheet
- Job number, date, the customer and the address of the work
- What was asked for, and what was actually done
- Time on site and the materials used
- The checks for this kind of job, each ticked off
- Notes, photos, and anything still to do or to come back for
- The customer's signature and the date, to confirm the work is done
Tips for plumbers
- Note the pressure you left the system at and when you checked for leaks: it's the first question if there's a drip later.
- Write down any old pipework or fittings you saw that need attention soon, and that you told the customer.

What should a plumber's job sheet include?
The job, the time on site, the parts used, the checks (water isolated, leak test, pressure, wastes tested), anything you found and told the customer about, and their signature. Photos of joints before boxing in are worth taking too.
What is a job sheet?
A job sheet (also called a job card or work sheet) is the record of one visit: what you were asked to do, what you did, the checks you made, the materials you used and the customer's signature. It's what you turn to if there's a dispute, a callback or a warranty claim, and it makes the invoice quick to write.
Who signs a job sheet?
You fill it in and the customer signs it when the work is finished, to confirm it's done and they're happy with it. If the customer isn't there, note who let you in and send them a copy with photos.
