What to put on a roofer job sheet
- Job number, date, the customer and the address of the work
- What was asked for, and what was actually done
- Time on site and the materials used
- The checks for this kind of job, each ticked off
- Notes, photos, and anything still to do or to come back for
- The customer's signature and the date, to confirm the work is done

- Take before and after photos from the same spots: the customer can't get up there to check.
- Note the weather each day and how the roof was left watertight overnight.

Why take before and after photos on a roofing job?
The customer can't see the roof, and once the scaffold is down neither can anyone else. Dated photos on the job sheet show what was there, what you found and what you left, which settles most guarantee claims straight away.
What is a job sheet?
A job sheet (also called a job card or work sheet) is the record of one visit: what you were asked to do, what you did, the checks you made, the materials you used and the customer's signature. It's what you turn to if there's a dispute, a callback or a warranty claim, and it makes the invoice quick to write.
Who signs a job sheet?
You fill it in and the customer signs it when the work is finished, to confirm it's done and they're happy with it. If the customer isn't there, note who let you in and send them a copy with photos.
